Quizerium Privacy Policy

This is the privacy policy for Quizerium (the "App"), a competitive trivia application for iOS developed by Ethelium ("we", "us"). Because Quizerium has accounts, leaderboards, and a skill score that persists across devices, some data is stored in the cloud. This policy explains what information the App collects, how it is used, and the choices you have.

Information we collect

Account and gameplay data. To run leaderboards, streaks, and your Quotient, Quizerium creates an account for you and stores the following in our backend (Google Firebase — Firestore, Authentication, and Cloud Functions):

• A display name / handle and, optionally, an avatar you choose (these appear publicly on leaderboards)
• The country you select, used for national leaderboards
• Your gameplay record: quiz answers and results, points, streaks, campaign progress, and your Quotient skill score and tier
• An authentication identifier from Sign in with Apple or an anonymous sign-in — we never receive your Apple ID password, and if you use Sign in with Apple's private-relay email we cannot see your real email address

Information stored on your device. App settings and preferences are also cached locally on your device (in iOS's standard app storage) so the App works smoothly and quickly.

Information collected automatically. To keep scoring fair and the App reliable, our backend logs technical information tied to your account, such as answer timing, an approximate region derived from your IP address, a device integrity signal (Apple App Check / DeviceCheck), and basic diagnostic and crash information. We use this to prevent cheating and to keep the leaderboards honest.

We do not sell your personal data. Quizerium does not access your contacts, photos, microphone, or precise location.

Third-party services

• Google Firebase — provides authentication, database, cloud functions, and app-integrity checks. See Google's privacy policy at policies.google.com/privacy and Firebase's data disclosures at firebase.google.com/support/privacy.
• Apple (Sign in with Apple / App Store) — used to sign you in and, if applicable, to process any in-app purchase. Apple receives standard metadata; we receive only what is needed to identify your account and confirm a purchase. See Apple's privacy policy at apple.com/legal/privacy.

How we use your information

• To run the game — save your progress, streaks, campaign, and Quotient, and sync them across your devices
• To rank you on national and global leaderboards
• To keep scoring fair — detect and prevent cheating, timing manipulation, and abuse
• To operate, maintain, and improve the App and fix bugs

Children

Quizerium is intended for a general audience aged 13 and over and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

Your choices and rights

• Change your public details — update your display name, avatar, or country in the App's profile settings at any time.
• Delete your account and data — you can delete your account from within the App (in the profile / settings screen). This removes your account, profile, and associated gameplay data from our systems. You can also email us to request deletion.
• EU / UK / California users — you have additional rights under GDPR / UK-GDPR / CCPA, including the right to access, correct, or delete the personal data we hold about you. Contact us at the email below and we will help with any such request.

Data security & retention

Communication between the App and our backend is encrypted in transit using HTTPS, and data is stored on Google Firebase's secured infrastructure. We retain account and gameplay data while your account is active; when you delete your account, we remove your personal data (some anonymized, aggregate gameplay records may be retained for leaderboard integrity and abuse prevention).

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will reflect the most recent change. Material changes will be announced in an in-app notice.
